Researchers Wanted for Humidification/Nebulization Study

ARC Medical Inc., Tucker, GA, is seeking qualified clinicians to perform a clinical study on their heat moisture exchanger, ThermoFlo® HN. See the criteria below. If interested, please contact Hal Norris at 800-950-2720 x-210 or by email.

ARC Medical, Inc. will fund a clinical study to accompany the bench study Effect of Heat Moisture Exchanger on Aerosol Drug Delivery and Airway Resistance in Simulated Ventilator-Dependent Adults Using Jet and Mesh Nebulizers” on nebulizing through their HME device, ThermoFlo® HN. The clinical study will examine the response to nebulizer treatments where 60+% of the drug passes through the device. This compares to ~15% using heated humidification.

The study will also document the effectiveness of the HN device as a humidifier using a Sputum Evaluation Form. If you are currently using an HME for up to 72 hours, we ask you to continue with that protocol and document any changes in sputum or condensation on the form. Preferably, we would prefer for the HN be discontinued only in case of reduced sputum (thick secretions) or lack of condensation.

The selected researcher must be able to present the findings at an AARC annual meeting and present the findings for publication.
